New Mexico CLE Requirements

Attorney Requirements

New Mexico attorneys are required to complete 12 hours of CLE each year. At least 2 hours must be in the area of Ethics and Professionalism. Attorneys must earn the required MCLE credits by December 31st and report by January 31st each year.

Attorneys may carry over up to 12 hours of CLE credit to the following year.

Newly Admitted Attorneys

Newly admitted attorneys must complete the "Bridge the Gap: Transitioning into the Profession" program through the State Bar of New Mexico.

In addition, new attorneys must complete "The Basics of Trust Accounting" and "Practice Management Skills for Success" CLE courses.

Online Courses

New Mexico attorneys must earn at least 8 hours of CLE credit from live events, including live webinars. Attorneys may earn up to 4 CLE credits through online on demand courses.
