Pennsylvania CLE Requirements
Attorney Requirements
Pennsylvania attorneys are required to complete 12 hours of CLE each year. At least 2 hours must be in the areas of Ethics, Professional Responsibility, or Substance Abuse. Attorneys are assigned a reporting period and must earn the required MCLE credits by their reporting period.
Attorneys may carry over up to 24 hours of live CLE credit into the next two reporting periods. On demand credits may not be carried over.
Newly Admitted Attorneys
Newly admitted Pennsylvania attorneys are exempt from a CLE requirement for up to 2 years, depending on their assigned reporting period.
During their first reporting period newly admitted attorneys must complete 12 CLE credits, including the 4 credit Bridge the Gap program.
Online Courses
Pennsylvania attorneys must earn at least 6 hours of CLE credit through live, in-person activities. Attorneys may earn up to 6 hours of CLE credit through online on demand courses and webinars.
